Water is an important factor in the functioning of any society. For Kazakhstan, as a landlocked country dealing with shortage and excess, water is of great importance.
Over the last few years we have seen declining water flows in the rivers in West-Kazakhstan and a significant drop in water level in the Caspian Sea. In 2020 even East-Kazakhstan was confronted with drought and several reservoirs reached critical levels.
In this webinar we would like to inform you about what is happening with regard to the major water systems in Kazakhstan and take a look at which role climate change may play in these phenomena. Furthermore we will inform you about a recent initiative started in the Netherlands to develop approaches, information and tools that can support actors at multiple levels to prevent or reduce water-related security risks.
